Introduction

Purpose other
Study Objective Develop and validate an open-source toolbox to generate pseudo-CTs from T1-weighted MRI for planning low-intensity transcranial focused ultrasound neuromodulation
Animal model / Human subject none (human imaging data only)
Disease model healthy
Targeted brain region(s) None (Simulated On The Whole Brain)

Outcomes and Safety

Summary of Outcomes Pseudo-CTs achieved MAE 109.8±13.0 HU compared to reference CT. Acoustic simulations using pseudo-CT produced focal pressures statistically equivalent to those using reference CT (0.48±0.04 vs 0.50±0.04 MPa), and were significantly better than binary skull models (0.28±0.05 MPa). Open-source toolbox provided.

Brain Region

Ultrasound Parameters

Ultrasound instrument none (simulation only)
FUS Pressure 0.48-0.50MPa (simulated)
